Jorge Domínguez Cruz, the Mexican Indigenous artist featured by The Dallas Morning News, is painting a mural at The Women's Museum for the Mundo Latino exhibition during the State Fair of Texas in Dallas on Sept. 18.artist originally from Mata de Otate, municipality of Chontla, Veracruz, is known in Mexico as The Surrealist of the Huasteca for the style of his work, which mixes colorful fantasy with surrealism and reality, always with an eye toward the Indigenous culture.
The artist was invited to paint the mural by Hispanic event organizer Rafael Luna, who manages the Mundo Latino exhibit at the The Women’s Museum at Fair Park during the fair.Domínguez used a recycled canvas from another exhibit at the State Fair for this 20-by-22-foot mural.Jorge Domínguez Cruz, a self-taught Indigenous artist originally from Mata de Otate, municipality of Chontla, Veracruz, is known in Mexico as The Surrealist of the Huasteca for the style of his work.
During the summer, Domínguez was in Mexico, where he participated in the IX Festival of Indigenous Cultures, Peoples, and Original Neighborhoods of Mexico City, and one of his paintings was selected to represent the festival.
