Saudi Arabia manager Herve Renard has now issued a statement after being linked with the vacant Belgium job.
After Roberto Martinez's departure from the Red Devils hot seat following the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December, the European nation began its search for a new head coach in earnest. Earlier this week, it was claimed that Thierry Henry, who was an assistant coach under Martinez, and Renard were among the candidates for the role. s Belgium correspondent Sacha Tavolieri stated that the Arsenal legend has not yet applied for the role, but added that Renard had submitted a proposal for the job.
However, the former Ivory Coast manager, who earned plaudits for leading Saudi Arabia to a shock win over Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar, has now denied making a move for the Belgium job. "The news suggesting I presented a proposal to coach the Belgium national team is totally false," Renard wrote on Twitter.
It has been noted that, while he has denied submitting a proposal for the role, he did not rule out his potential interest in the job.
