After Stamford removed benches at downtown bus shelters to address concerns over homelessness & loitering, bus riders say it created new problems for them. AielloTV reports.
Stamford
"You have people who are legitimately bus riders and they're looking for a place to sit down and rest, after work, or whatever the issue is, and now that's been taken away," Bee said. The Downtown Stamford Special Services District says the seats were removed after a"drumbeat of concerns" about drinking and drug use as people, many of them experiencing homelessness, congregated at the bus shelters when ridership dropped during the pandemic.
