Remembering Monmouth Mall as beloved shopping destination rips off roof, gets new name

Who remembers when Bamberger's and Montgomery Ward anchored the popular mall? The site is about to get an epic makeover.

After years of decline, the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown is being redeveloped into an open-air town center called "Monmouth Square." The mall, which still has a small food court, will be open during demolition and construction.

Adelhoch, 24, has fond memories of his grandparents taking him on strolls through the Eatontown mall, often stopping at the now-closed Johnny Rocket’s for a meal. On the weekends, his family loved to get frozen yogurt or Dyishi Japan before catching a flick at the AMC movie theater.A rare glimpse inside the deserted Monmouth Mall.
