For fans of Texas history looking for the perfect place to gaze at the sky during the April 8 eclipse, the Alamo's got you covered. Alamo Plaza will host an eclipse viewing party for the total eclipse, with officials saying the historic site got a 'remarkable turnout' when it offered a similar event for October's annular eclipse.
Here's what time the April 8 eclipse will hit San Antonio-area towns Downtown San Antonio isn't in the eclipse's path of totality, but will get a partial view of the celestial event. Much of the West and Northwest Sides are in the path of totality, although for fewer than two minutes. The Alamo watch party runs from noon to 3 p.m., with views of the eclipse starting about 12:14 p.m. and ending about 2:55 p.m. The 'peak eclipse window' for downtown is 1:34 p.m.
