Release of Tearful 999 Call in Mango Heir's Father's Death Investigation

Audio of Jonathan Andic's emotional emergency call following his father Isak's fatal fall in the Montserrat mountains has been broadcast, adding a new layer to the homicide investigation. The recording, played on Catalan radio, captures Andic's distress as he reports the accident. This follows a judge's detailed ruling outlining suspicious factors, including a strained relationship and forensic evidence contradicting an accidental slip. Andic denies involvement, citing his father's prior health issues and disputing the context of a damning text message.

The release of a tearful 999 call made by Jonathan Andic , heir to the Mango fashion empire, following his father's fatal mountain plunge has intensified the high-profile investigation.

Andic, 45, who remains on bail after his arrest last month on suspicion of killing his 71-year-old father, Isak Andic, in December 2024, can be heard sobbing and pleading for emergency assistance. The nearly three-minute audio, broadcast by a Catalan radio station, captures his distress as he reports his father has fallen down a ravine near the Colbato Caves in the Montserrat massif northwest of Barcelona.

Throughout the call, Andic struggles to maintain composure, breaking down in tears while answering the operator's questions about the location and his father's condition. He repeatedly states he cannot see his father and confirms Isak is not answering. The operator attempts to calm him, assures help is coming, and dispatches police, firefighters, and paramedics. After being transferred to another responder, Andic again insists his father fell.

This harrowing recording is the latest development in a case that has captivated global attention, particularly following Andic's arrest on May 19. He was photographed being led into court in handcuffs with his head bowed. Investigating Judge Raquel Nieto Galvan detailed the reasoning for treating the death as a homicide in a 17-page legal document.

She cited a 'bad relationship' between father and son, noting Jonathan had conducted a reconnaissance of the walking route they took on the day Isak died. The judge also pointed to Jonathan's alleged 'obsession' with money and police forensic analysis indicating the ground marks at the scene did not match a simple slip, contradicting the accident theory.

Additional elements include Jonathan's claim that an old phone used on the day of the death was stolen in Ecuador and its data erased, which the judge interpreted as suspicious. She concluded there were sufficient prima facie indications of 'non-accidental death, with active and premeditated involvement' by the son. In response, Andic, who stepped down as Mango's vice-president pending the inquiry, has consistently denied wrongdoing.

He described the accusation as 'serious, unjust and unfounded' in an open letter to staff, arguing a 'one-sided' public narrative has distorted reality. His defence team has sought to counter the prosecution's case by highlighting Isak Andic's pre-existing health issues, releasing a video showing him falling months earlier due to a degenerative knee condition.

They also contested the interpretation of a leaked text message from July 2024 in which Jonathan wrote to his father, 'I'm not surprised you thought I was even capable of killing you,' claiming it was taken out of context from family therapy discussions. Lead lawyer Enrique Martell, known for representing high-profile clients like Dani Alves, argued the homicide conjecture is 'inconsistent' and 'painful,' stigmatizing an innocent man.

The judge authorized the arrest and set bail at 1 million euros, which Andic posted to secure his release. The forensic dispute over the marks at the scene remains central, with the defence contesting the police analysis. The case continues to evolve as both sides present competing narratives about the father-son relationship, financial motives, and the exact circumstances of Isak Andic's death on a mountain trail
