) - Auburn ’s new College of Education building is ready to welcome in the next generation of educators. Some of the first to get a chance to learn in this space aren’t just college students; registration is currently underway for Auburn Early Childhood Education’s summer enrichment program for preschoolers.
Associate Professor Dr. Sean Durham says this year’s program will be a great way for parents to keep their children engaged in fun activities that also give them an academic advantage during the summer months. “We are looking forward to taking our new lab space and designing these beautifully curated scientific environments where children are going to be studying light, shadow, a lot of work with water, with sand building and engineering with blocks,” Dr. Durham said. The program is designed for children ages 4-6 and will last 20 days from June 16-18, June 23-26, June 30-July 2, July 8-10, July 14-17 and July 21-23. It will start each morning at 8 a.m. with drop-offs available at 7:45. “This year’s program will feature an attractive play-based classroom with daily explorations in science and the arts,” Durham said. “Children will have multiple opportunities each day to choose among carefully prepared explorations with art media, science materials, and free play with the close support of Auburn Early Childhood teacher candidates.”Anyone interested is encouraged to register as soon as possible by emailing Durham at
