Timothy J. Miller, 34, already on the sex offender registry for indecent assault and corruption of minors, is facing new charges of raping a girl for three years in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Franklin counties. The victim was between ages 6 and 9 during the assaults which occurred from April 2021 to June 2024 in Middletown, Mechanicsburg, and Shippensburg. Miller was arrested in October after a friend turned him in for failing to comply with sex offender requirements. Police discovered sexually explicit messages Miller had sent a 9-year-old girl on his phone left with the friend. The victim told police Miller kissed, molested, and raped her multiple times. Miller is also charged with attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and indecent exposure.
A man already on the sex offender registry is facing new charges after police say he raped a girl for three years in Dauphin, Cumberland and Franklin counties.
Miller was already being held at the Dauphin County Prison for failing to comply with sex offender requirements from a 2017 conviction for indecent assault and corruption of minors. Middletown police have asked a Dauphin County judge to deny bail in light of the newly filed child rape charges. The friend went through the phone and discovered sexually explicit messages that Miller had sent a 9-year-old girl.
In June, Miller gave the girl a cellphone so he’d have a way to communicate with her directly, court documents said. Police said Miller showered the girl with gifts on occasions outside of her birthday or holidays, and groomed her, making her feel comforted and loved.
