Region IV-6A features three area teams, including Clark, the state’s top-ranked team.
Clark and Fredericksburg are back in the regional semifinals with hopes of making back-to-back state-tournament appearances.Wagner, Lytle, Boerne and D’Hanis are also in the mix for state spots.
United South defeated Harlan, 58-49, on Tuesday. Panthers have losses against Steele, Brennan and Fredericksburg, among others. The Jaguars are carried by four fourth year letterwinners including guard Ja’Shelle Johnson, guard Julia Plata, forward Addison Iden and forward Sydney Colleoni.Wagner is the team to beat after knocking off two-time reigning state champion Cedar Park twice this season, including in the opening round of the postseason.The Thunderbirds are aligned in Class 5A again after competing in Class 6A for the previous two seasons.
Fredericksburg defeated the Greyhounds on a buzzer-beater to win last year’s title. Boerne defeated the Billies in the title game two years ago.
