Built in 1929 by former mayor and patron of the arts Francis Darke, with an addition built in the 1960s, the theatre on College Avenue served as a centrepiece to southern Saskatchewan’s arts scene for decades., as a collaborative partnership between the University of Regina and Conexus, with the goal of preserving and upgrading the landmark to extend its lifespan.

Darke Hall was unique, he added, in that the team was focused on both preserving heritage and modernizing at the same time.
