PETALING JAYA: Three months into the suspension of the M-League has not diminished Selangor skipper Taylor Regan’s desire to hit the ground running when the Super League action resumes.

All football activities came to a grinding halt on March 16 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Malaysian Football League have proposed that the Super League resume on Sept 1 with only one round of matches, instead of the usual two, leaving only seven matches left to be played before end of the league. They started their campaign with a 2-1 win over Pahang, followed by draws with Perak and Terengganu and then suffered a 0-3 loss to Kedah before the suspension.

“Seven matches put more pressure on us, especially after the tough start we had. But if there is one thing I know, it is that our squad is now closer then ever before,” said the 31-year-old Regan. The centreback added the team’s coaching staff including head coach B. Sathianathan had been working on despite the movement control order and constantly updating the players on what needs to be done once training resumes, probably in August.“The coaches have been in contact with us throughout all the MCO period. Our fitness coach has been constantly checking with us and making sure we are in good condition,” said Regan.
