Reece Walsh has received a three-match ban, which will include Origin III, for his expletive-laden blow-up directed at referee Chris Butler.
The Broncos and Queensland ace was referred straight to the judiciary after he yelled “what the f--- do you mean, c---” in the direction of Butler during Sunday’s loss to the Titans. The hearing lasted more than four hours on Tuesday night, and even featured a late cameo by two Broncos fans who had walked from nearby Paddington to show their support on the steps of League HQ.
A disappointed Walsh said afterwards: “I know I’m a role model to young kids and the community, I’ll continue to work hard and be better in those areas I need to get better at.” When Carrigan first appeared via a Zoom call, he only referred to the “F word” and “C word”, but was told by Ghabar: “It’s OK to say the full word, nobody will be offended.”
Knowles told the panel to use “common sense” when watching the footage, rather than take in some of the evidence they had just listened to for nearly two hours. In a sign of his toughness, Flegler suffered the injury approaching the half hour, and did not complain to club medicos at the break.“It’s a Lisfranc injury, but only a mild version, he hasn’t torn it that badly,” Walters told this masthead.
