As our loyal readers know, I'm a huge fan of Sin City. I was built for Las Vegas and Vegas was built for me. FANDUEL, BRYCE HARPER VIDEO TO LOSING GAMBLER REINFORCES THE GREED OF THE MLB, SPORTSBOOKS AND THE UNION Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird when people spend thousands of dollars to come to Las Vegas and never gamble?
I’m not saying you need to blow your vacation budget chasing jackpots, but at least sit down at a cheap blackjack table, throw twenty bucks in a slot, or make one sports bet. To me, the casinos are the whole reason Vegas became Vegas. The restaurants, shows, pools, and everything else are awesome, but they’re all built around gambling. I honestly can’t imagine flying home without at least giving the casino a shot.
Is that just the gambler in me or does anyone else feel the same? It was off to the races from there in the comments, and reactions of all different kinds were flowing in. I gave up on gambling in 2006. I can’t say I never gamble, but it is extremely rare. For me Vegas is a portal to the Eastern Sierra, Moab,and other areas for hiking and photography. So, I enjoy the restaurants, vibe, etc but just don’t tend to gamble.
Vegas is Disneyland for adults. It's more than just gambling now. For me, it's just part of the entertainment. I feel many people will drop a few bucks, but not going to sit at a machine for a long time.
There is always that"I might hit the jackpot" mentality, even for a person that doesn't really play. Absolutely. I eat, drink, go to shows, walk, golf, etcand Valley of fire, to get nature and desert vibe. The food and shows are great to enjoy as well.
We are just not the gambling type. Flights and car rental are cheap in Vegas, all the outside areas are free to park too...not sure why you need to spent thousands of dollars. I go for the shows/concerts and most definitely for the food off the strip they have fabulous places to eat at where your not being price gauged. Now you also have the excuse to fly out to catch a game there.
I rarely gamble or gamble very little and I'm still getting comped 3 to 5 nights on the regular just pay the resort fee’s. Vegas is whatever you make of it. I’ve been to Vegas about 6-7 times and have maybe spent an hour of combined time gambling? Theres so many shows and events and things to see/do that gambling feels like a waste of time.
Also I’m in NJ and was able to gamble in AC pretty much whenever I wanted so gambling in LV was unnecessary Yes, but I don't spend thousands of dollars, because I'm not gambling. To me, it's more bizarre to read people giving each other tips on how to get free comps I'd rather spend money on food and shows and booze and traveling around the region than just feeding it directly into a machine or to a dealer. Are you seriously this daft? Vegas is a major convention hub, plenty of people don't gamble. Don't be stupid.
I used to gamble more but now I almost don’t at all. I only like table games and they’re just too expensive and too rigged. I’m not playing 6:5 or triple zero. But I do like the food and drinks and cabanas and shows.
My wife still puts as much money as she can into a slot machine. So our hotels are free and we get VIP access. So we get good service. I think that the younger generation doesn't go for just gambling anymore.

Admittedly, I'm a little surprised by how many people responded they don't do much gambling while in Las Vegas. That's literally one of the main reasons I go. Nothing hits harder than the boys taking over an entire blackjack table. Now, to be clear, I only gamble when I'm in Las Vegas.
I don't do it any other time of the year. It's definitely only vacation behavior. I, maybe foolishly, assumed a lot of people were the same. I guess not.
