The 25-year-old Vrana, a restricted free agent, was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing Wednesday. His previous contract had an average annual value of $3.35-million. Vrana registered 11 points in 11 games with Detroit after coming over in a trade with the Washington Capitals alongside Richard Panik and two draft picks for Anthony Mantha on April 12. He also had 11 goals and 14 assists in 39 games last season with the Capitals prior to the deal.
The Prague, Czech Republic, native was taken 13th overall by Washington in 2014 and in total has 84 goals and 84 assists in 295 regular season games.
