Alex Bregman, a key infielder for the Houston Astros, is a top target for several MLB teams in the upcoming free agency period. While the Yankees and Astros have seemingly dropped out of the race, the Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox remain strong contenders. CBS Sports analyst R.J. Anderson believes the Red Sox are the most likely to sign Bregman, citing their willingness to spend big on his reported desired $200 million contract.

One of the most intriguing storylines left this winter is the free agency sweepstakes of Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman .The Astros and the New York Yankees were two of the favorites to sign Bregman, but they've seemingly dropped out of the race. The Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox all make sense as well.R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports believes it'll be the Red Sox that win the Bregman sweepstakes, doing so with their willingness to spend more than the Tigers.

Bregman is reportedly looking for a $200 million deal in free agency, which the Red Sox may have to pay to land him.'He's been linked to several clubs throughout the winter, including the Yankees, Tigers, and Red Sox. (The Astros too, of course, but Houston has since added Isaac Paredes and Christian Walker to man the corner infield positions.),' Anderson wrote. 'I predicted that Bregman would sign a six-year pact worth $162 million back in November; he's reportedly since declined a six-year offer from the Astros worth $156 million that suggests he's aiming even higher. I'm more confident in Boston's willingness to spend than Detroit's, and that's a reasonable determiner if you ask me.'The addition of Bregman would be huge for the Red Sox. Boston has hugely added to its starting rotation, yet it hasn't spent much money at this point. The Red Sox have the money to pursue Bregman and they should do it.As a result, Rafael Devers would slide over to first base. First baseman Triston Casas would either rotate between first base and designated hitter or he could be used as a trade chip. Either way, it would be a huge addition to Boston

Alex Bregman Sweepstakes Heats Up With Yankees, Red Sox Leading The ChargeAlex Bregman Sweepstakes Heats Up With Yankees, Red Sox Leading The ChargeThe Houston Astros have seemingly removed themselves from the Alex Bregman sweepstakes after failing to meet his $200 million contract demands. The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies are now the top contenders for the star infielder. While the Tigers have emerged as a potential suitor due to Bregman's connections and the team's need for an infielder, the Phillies are unlikely to pursue him unless they trade Alec Bohm. This leaves the Red Sox and Yankees locked in a potential bidding war, with both teams capable of making a significant financial commitment. The Red Sox are also rumored to be a destination for Nolan Arenado, further complicating the situation.
