Boston Red Sox pitcher Tony Buehler has actively encouraged his friend and former Team USA teammate, Alex Bregman, to join the Red Sox. Buehler and Bregman share a passion for horse racing, even co-owning a horse together. Bregman is a free agent after hitting .260 with 26 home runs for the Houston Astros last season. While the Tigers and Blue Jays are considered frontrunners for Bregman, Buehler's strong pitch could sway the former first-round Red Sox draft pick.
“I have certainly made a pitch all over the place for him to come to Boston,” Buehler said. “He and I have been buddies for a long time. We played on Team USA together a little bit in college.”Buehler continued by mentioning that the two have bonded over the horse racing industry, revealing that they even own a horse together,
“I got involved in this horse and there was more of the horse that could have been purchased, so, he was the one guy I called and he opted in,” Buehler said, “The horse won in Santa Anita in its first time with us.”agreed to a one-year deal worth $21.05 millionBregman, who hit .260 with 26 home runs last year for the Astros, could be a valuable right-handed bat in a lefty-heavy Red Sox lineup.
Bregman was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 29th round of the 2012 draft, but he opted to play at LSU instead before going to the Astros at No. 2 overall in 2015.Cops reveal Special Forces soldier’s motive for Cybertruck bombing — as he trashed 'feckless leadership' of a USA 'near collapse'
