“I am very happy to sign Wiki to a new contract with the club and to keep him with us for the future,” head coach Sandro Schwarz said. “He has shown to be a reliable player for our club this season and has progressed really well since the beginning of the season.”appearances this season, the 21-year-old has three goals — including his side’s opener in a 2-2 draw last week with CF Montreal — with three assists.
His role in New York’s midfield has become increasingly invaluable in recent weeks after the club sold Frankie Amaya to Liga MX side Toluca and Emil Forsberg was sidelined with a lower leg injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until at least the first half of August. Carmona has become a player to watch within the Venezuelan national system. He has been a regular for the country’s youth national teams, including a call-up to the Venezuela U-23 Olympic qualifying team in October of 2023.
