Red Bull equals McLaren's all-time record with 11 consecutive wins.
With today's win at Silverstone, Red Bull has won the last eleven straight Formula 1 grands prix. If that seems like an impressive number, it is: that victory means that the team has tied McLaren's 1988 record for consecutive race wins. The Red Bull RB19 has tied the McLaren MP4/4.
The win today took a little bit more effort than most in that 11-race streak. Max Verstappen started from pole, but he lost the lead to Lando Norris early and had to chase down the McLaren in the day's opening laps to regain the position. Add in a safety car in the final dozen laps and Verstappen's win comes by a relatively narrow margin, but it is enough for the record for Red Bull. It is also six straight for Verstappen, leaving him two-thirds of the way from the single-driver record.
The 1988 McLaren season is the stuff of legend, and matching any record from it is a major victory for Red Bull. Ferrari capped out at 10 wins in 2002, at the height of Michael Schumacher's powers. While Mercedes hit 10 themselves three times in recent years, the team came up short in the 11th race each time. Red Bull's two previous best attempts, during Sebastian Vettel's 2013 championship season and Max Verstappen's title-winning season last year, ended at nine.
Red Bull will now have a chance to extend their record in Hungary in two weeks. The team looked as beatable as it has at any point this season, but the Red Bull RB19 remains undefeated and someone will have to change that on track if the record is going to stop here.
