As of 6 a.m. Tuesday, one of the coldest spots was Jasper at 19 degrees, according to the weather service.

Tuesday's high temperatures are forecast to be a tad higher than on Monday, but still on the chilly side. Above is today's high temperature forecast.And it was cold enough just before midnight to set a few last-minute records on Monday as well.

Low temperatures plunged into the 20s statewide on Tuesday morning, with a few locations even getting into the teens, according to weather service data. As of 6 a.m. Tuesday, one of the coldest spots was Jasper at 19 degrees, according to the weather service. The weather service said low temperature records were broken this morning in Tuscaloosa, Montgomery and even the at weather service office in Calera, which is located at the Shelby County Airport. The weather service offices in Huntsville, Mobile and Tallahassee, Fla., could add to their record books as well. In addition it was so cold just before midnight that Montgomery and the Shelby County Airport also set low temperature records for Monday, Nov. 10.The Shelby County Airport in Calera hit 23 degrees before midnight, breaking the record of 30 degrees set in 1996.A warmup will begin later this morning and last through the rest of the week. High temperatures today will range from the upper 40s and low 50s in north and north-central Alabama to the mid- and upper 50 in south-central and south Alabama .Low temperatures tonight through Wednesday morning will be chillier in eastern Alabama. Lows will range from the low to mid-30s in north Alabama, the mid- to upper 30s in central Alabama and the mid-30s to low 40s in south Alabama.Leigh Morgan is an Alabama native.
