OCEARCH researchers have tagged and released the largest male great white shark ever recorded in the western North Atlantic. The shark, named 'Contender,' measured 13 feet, 9 inches long and weighed an estimated 1,653 pounds. The team used a smart position and temperature transmitting tag to monitor the animal.
