A reenergized Turpin feels ready to run it back in 2023. As to be expected, he expressed complete disinterest inHe had a season-long flirtation with return touchdowns last NFL season, ultimately not finding the end zone after two return scores in an exhibition win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Some frustrating moments occurred along the way, as he was tackled short of the 20-yard line on nine of 21 kick returns. Three others were moved inside the 20 because of penalties.
“They had the same rule in college. It didn’t affect me then, so why would it affect me now? That’s where I am at right now. I’m just trying to get my money.”Last December and January, Turpin downplayed the physical and mental toll that playing back-to-back professional seasons had on him. After experiencing the downtime that eluded him, he acknowledged it was needed.
“I didn’t know until I got back to OTAs,” Turpin said. “I really feel like I’m more energized right now. Not being tired. Not being sleepy. That’s where I feel right now. I really feel good.”
