Rebecca Ferguson Is Officially Returning In Silo Season 3 With 1 Controversial Story Change

Juliette’s controversial Silo season 3 change.

Rebecca Ferguson is officially returning in Silo season 3 as Juliette, but the Apple TV show is introducing one controversial change to her arc. Towards Silo season 2's ending moments, Juliette's narrative concluded on an ambiguous note where she found herself trapped in Silo 18's decontamination chamber with Bernard.

Since she is the main character of the Apple TV sci-fi show, she was expected to return in season 3. However, season 2's ending hinted that after being exposed to the fire and high temperature in the decontamination chamber, she would probably not remain the same. Before Silo season 3's premiere on Apple TV, the show has already confirmed how Juliette is about to change. Interestingly, this change in her arc and characterization sets up a major book change.

Given how Silo has gotten away with many book changes so far, this one, too, should not be an issue. However, as many viewers are already starting to point out, this new book change seems far riskier than more others and could eventually prove to be controversial.

Silo Season 3 Is Introducing 1 Risky Juliette Book Change As Silo season 3's new trailer and plot details have confirmed, it will begin with an"amnesia plot" in which Juliette will struggle to recall many key memories from her past. This memory could be a consequence of the incident from Silo season 2's ending. The trauma from exposure to the high temperature in Silo 18's decontamination chamber might have forced Juliette to forget her past.

However, Silo season 2 also hinted at the existence of a drug that can potentially make one forget the past. Since Silo has largely been about higher authorities trying to shut down potential rebellions through coercion or manipulation. This development makes sense and aligns well with the series' themes. The memory loss plot also hints that, at least in season 3's opening arc, Juliette's arc will be driven by her struggle to regain her memories.

In Silo season 3, she had figured out the truth about the Safeguard Procedure and had even found a way to stop it. Her memory loss will probably prevent her remembering what she learned, which, in turn, puts her and her people in harm's way. While Juliette will seemingly attempt to recover her memory as Silo 18's new mayor, Camille Sims will rise in the ranks and become a puppet to the"Algorithm" in Silo season 3.

This, too, would be a major book change, as Camille Sims does not even exist in original Silo books. Silo season 3 will also finally walk through the history and the origins of the central silos, explaining everything from the reason why they were constructed to the cause of the apocalypse that forced people to live in them. With so many fascinating developments, Silo season 3 sounds exciting.

However, it is hard not to be a little concerned about its memory loss plot because of how it seemingly changes Hugh Howey's original Silo books. Silo Season 3’s Book Change Is Concerning, But It Might Still Work The biggest problem with a memory loss plot is that it has been overly done in many TV shows and movies.

While Silo season 3's execution of the plot might help it stand out, it feels like a redundant and cliché narrative device. Silo season 2 also struggled to be as good as its predecessor because it kept stalling Juliette's character development just to fill its 10-episode runtime. Her story arc barely progressed and primarily revolved around her trying to find her way back to Silo 18. With the memory loss plot, Silo season 3 risks repeating the same mistake.

Silo season 3 premieres on Apple TV on July 3, 2026. If Juliette's struggles to recall her past turns out to be the only major driver of her story throughout season 3, her characterization will struggle again. And given how the books introduce no such plot developments, many viewers might even question why the show forced a memory loss story in the first place.

Since Silo season 3 will finally reveal the truth about its post-apocalyptic world's history, it is still hard not to be excited about its release. Even the memory loss story could work if it only drives the earlier chapters of the season.

However, if the amnesia plot is stretched too far, Silo season 3 could end up receiving the same criticism as season 2.
