The swimmer is going for gold again at the 2024 Olympics in Paris
Team GB star Adam Peaty will be gunning for a third successive gold medal in his signature men’s 100 metres breaststroke event at the Paris Olympics. The swimmer set the fastest time for 2024 in the discipline at the British trials - coming after a turbulent few years in which he has struggled with injury, a split from the mother of his son and a much-publicised battle with his mental health.
However he only started taking the sport seriously at the age of 17 when he was preparing for a night out with friends. He saw contemporary Craig Benson qualify for the Olympic semi-finals at London 2012 and according to his Team GB profile, fully committed to the sport from that moment. Meanwhile Adam had met girlfriend Eiri Munro through dating app Tinder when he was at Loughborough University. They went public with their relationship on Instagram at the beginning of 2020 and welcomed a baby boy, George-Anderson Adetola Peaty, into the world in September 2020.
He headed back to the pool but was sidelined from the 2022 World Championships due to a foot injury. And in his personal life, there were difficult times too with Adam announcing his split from girlfriend Eiri in August 2022. One turning point came when he met girlfriend Holly Ramsey, whose father is celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey. He said: "She gives me peace and that brings so much stability. We met last summer and, whatever happens in the pool, I’m still winning because I’ve found the right person."
