The mother of the boys Samantha Stephenson — who managed to escape the blaze along with another woman — didn't attend the event, with family spokesman Te Hopo telling ABC News she wasn't ready. The service began with a traditional Māori welcome, reflecting the heritage of Mr Godinet and his five boys, before loved ones offered tributes.Ms Stephenson's sister Christina — aunty to the boys — gave moving tributes while supported by her father.
Teary loved ones expressed their sorrow over the deaths of Zack, Harry, Kyza, Koah, Nicky, and their father Wayne.
