): Coping with sea level rise is a concern, especially after we’ve seen this year that San Diego isn’t immune to flooding. Several upcoming projects will use clever technology to help protect our beaches and open spaces.
Perhaps the most important technology to fight sea level rise is voting. Climate resilience projects will buy us time, but policy changes are needed to reverse the damage. In particular, a national carbon fee and dividend policy can help quickly and safely phase out fossil fuels. This year we can prioritize electing leaders ready to fight climate change, from president down to school board.
Perhaps our officials should take a look at the elevated sand dunes in Belmont Shores to best understand the impact of the dunes on the residences.
