It's a college football player's paradise, where dreams and reality meet in new EA Sports video game
Jon Johnson TROY – After a long, hot first preseason practice Wednesday morning, new Troy football coach Gerad Parker was still visibly heated shortly after his team finished the session.
While Parker understandably wants improvement each session and was aggravated at times Wednesday, he was pleased about much of what he saw during the first day. The Trojans will have a new starting quarterback this season after the graduation of Gunnar Watson. Returners Goose Crowder and Tucker Kilcrease along with Matthew Caldwell, a junior transfer from Gardner-Webb who is an Auburn native, will be battling it out for the starting job.
He has developed good relationships with Kilcrease and Caldwell and understands he must earn the starting job with his play on the field. “He’s going to come out here and not complain and do his work. He’s kind of a little bit quieter, and I love that about him. He keeps his head down and works. He always comes back to me with some good input.”“You know, the excitement to get on the grass was definitely there,” Crowder said of the first day. “On day one, there is going to be some stuff to clean up, but we had some flashes here and there. We’ll watch the film and get back at it tomorrow.
