ICYMI: RCMP investigating suspicious death on Beardy's and Okemasis' Cree Nation
On Sunday at about 5:50 p.m., Rosthern RCMP received a report of a shooting in the community, RCMP said in a release. Officers located an injured man on a road and attempted life-saving efforts. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has been identified as a 22-year-old from Saskatoon. RCMP say they will not be releasing his name at this time. RCMP advise there will be an increased police presence in the community as officers investigate. There is no known threat to public safety, the release said. Anyone with information is asked to call their local RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP.
