Brenda Venne, 63, has been charged in connection with fraud and thefts occurring between 2013\u002D2019.

In December of 2020, Wakaw RCMP received a report of a theft from an individual’s personal bank account, a RCMP release said. The RCMP General Investigation Section took over the investigation.

“Sadly, some of the victims died prior to the initial report made to police,” Sgt. Greg Smith, acting officer in charge of the GIS said in the release. The investigation started “due to the vigilance of one keen individual,” Smith said. “It takes great strength for a victim to come forward to police and make a report and I commend them for this.”

The release acknowledges an investigation took place related to allegations of misappropriation of funds, which resulted in criminal charges. Conxeus says it participated in the investigation and has informed and “made whole” those affected.
