Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. independent director Erika Fille T. Legara, PhD was named as one of the most outstanding scientists and researchers in the Asian region for her initiatives in the field of data science and artificial intelligence.

Singapore-based Asian Scientist Magazine has included Legara, together with 13 other distinguished Filipinos, in this year’s edition of the prestigious Asian Scientist 100 list. The Asian Scientist 100 list celebrates the success of the region’s best and brightest, highlighting their achievements across a range of scientific disciplines. Those who made it in the list have already either received a national or international prize in the preceding year for his or her research or must have made a significant scientific discovery or provided leadership in academia or industry.

Legara has been an independent director of RCBC since July 2022. She is a multi-awarded scientist, educator, and advisor on data science and artificial intelligence , data and AI strategy and governance, infrastructure, and education. Her awards and recognitions include The Outstanding Young Men and The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service and received the National Academy of Science and Technology Outstanding Young Scientist award in 2020, among others.

She is also an associate professor and the founding director of the Master of Science in Data Science Program at the Asian Institute of Management .
