The newly released raunchy comedy Joy Ride, which stars Ashley Park, Stephanie Hsu, and Sherry Cola, is officially Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Joy Ride is continuing a hugely positive R-rated comedy trend with its Rotten Tomatoes score. The movie was written and directed by Raya and the Last Dragon's Adele Lim in her live-action feature debut and stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. The comedy centers on Audrey Sullivan as she takes her friends on a trip across China to try and find her birth mother while having a variety of raunchy adventures along the way.
Having made its world premiere at SXSW this past March, Joy Ride already had a Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes heading into its theatrical release. Now that even more reviews have been added, currently numbering 131, the movie is officially Certified Fresh at 91 percent.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Joy Ride's Rotten Tomatoes Score Keeps Up a Stunning Record For Its Cast Joy Ride’s Rotten Tomatoes score is a huge achievement for furthering the success of the R-rated comedy in an era inundated with PG-13 blockbuster tentpoles. It is also a huge milestone for its young cast as, with the exception of Wu making their feature debut with Joy Ride, every star has so far only appeared in movies that became Certified Fresh .
Hsu is perhaps the most prominent, as she is coming off an Oscar nomination for the Best Picture-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once, in which she herself scored a Best Supporting Actress nod, though lost to co-star Jamie Lee Curtis. She was also part of the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings cast, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe title garnering her the first of three Certified Fresh movies in a row.
