Rauf to discuss exco lineup with Zahid, vows to make Melaka investor-friendly FMTNews
Newly appointed Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said he will announce his lineup within the next 48 hours.
MELAKA: Melaka’s new chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said he will discuss with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on the formation of the state’s unity government. Rauf, who was sworn in as the state’s 13th chief minister this evening, said he has yet to receive any advice from Zahid, who is also the Barisan Nasional chairman.Rauf also said he will announce the lineup within the next 48 hours.To date, BN and PH have formed unity governments in Perak and Pahang.“In order to boost the economy, I vow to make Melaka business and investor friendly,” said the Tanjung Bidara assemblyman.
When asked whether the party would take action against Rembia assemblyman Jailani Khamis for saying a “backdoor CM” would be appointed in Melaka, Rauf replied: “Wait and see.”Sulaiman was first sworn in as Melaka chief minister in March 2020 after the Sheraton Move led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government and, consequently, the PH state government in Melaka.
