PETALING JAYA: The opening round for Goh Jin Wei in the Indian Open looks daunting but coach Nova Armada welcomes it.
The world No. 33 Jin Wei faces world No. 6 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand after the former was promoted to the main draw of the tournament in New Delhi, following the withdrawal of American Iris Wang.
“The match against Ratchanok is good to gauge Jin Wei’s standard. We are not thinking about winning or losing but performing well on the day,” said Nova. In the recent Malaysian Open, she defeated Germany’s world No. 26 Yvonne Li in her opening match before going down to eventual runner-up and world No. 4 An Se-young of South Korea in the second round.
