We've nearly made it through a wet and windy Wednesday, which will be good practice for more of the same tomorrow.Just over 24 hours after being traded to the Seahawks from New Orleans, wide receiver Rashid Shaheed took to the press conference podium at the team's headquarters in Renton.
Just over 24 hours after being traded to the Seahawks from New Orleans, wide receiver Rashid Shaheed took to the press conference podium at the team's headquarters in Renton. There were questions about his skillset, his familiarity with Klint Kubiak, and so much more. I'll dive in shortly. But it's how he answered the last two questions, about being a free agent at the end of the season, when he said, “I'm here to stay. So, I'm excited to see if we can figure something out after the season ends. But, yeah, I'm excited.” When legendary local reporter Bob Condotta asked if Rashid was looking at this as his new home, Shaheed said without hesitation, "Yes, long term, yessir."Now, who knows if that actually occurs? But it speaks volumes to the kind of player the Seahawks are getting. It at least partially explains the trade haul they gave up to get him. “I know it's a winning organization, and that's what matters the most in this league. I'm just excited to be a part of it, get to know the guys and coaches, and just get acclimated with the culture around here," Shaheed said of his impressions and what he knows about the Seahawks."I'm super glad to be connected back with him. He's familiar with me. He knows my strengths, and I know what his mindset is going into games. It shouldn't be too hard to get acclimated with him and just find my role in the offense.” That familiarity certainly had a role when the Hawks traded for him, as Mike Macdonald puts it, "Obviously, he has familiarity with Klint in our system, so hopefully it's an expedited getting up to speed, but I enjoyed our conversation since the trade, and I know the guys are excited. It's a great opportunity to add to our team. It didn't feel like we were missing something; it's not like we were trying to plug holes or anything like that. It was just an opportunity to get a great player and augment what we were doing; that was it. But yeah, I'm excited about it and excited to see him out there.” Kubiak, as Macdonald says, made sure the team knew the kind of player they were trading for. “Our type of guy, and there's a presence, there’s a difference to him out on the field, he's a playmaker. Obviously, the speed is real and working, making plays down the field. But we obviously felt like he's a great player too. So, we had an alignment. It was Klint, it was our personnel folks, and John can worry about the compensation and all that, but it was great.” “A guy with a lot of energy," Shaheed describes himself as, "A guy who loves to win and to compete. I can make plays on any level, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to win.”For a team that's tied for the best record in the NFC, that'll work. And so will his ability to stretch the field offensively while serving as an explosive option on special teams.Nearly 100K tools recalled, sold at Home Depot The chainsaw, available with a 12-inch or 14-inch bar, is designed for use with Milwaukee's M18 batteries.Voters in Seattle may have pushed the political pendulum in this week’s election, and while votes have yet to be finalized.FAA employees missed one paycheck on Oct. 28, with their next payday set for Nov. 11.
