'If he is not fit to play now for England, you can’t expect him to sit indoors.' Marcus Rashford told to ignore backlash over trip to New York MUFC
Marcus Rashford has been told to ignore the backlash to his trip to New York by Jamie O’Hara and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
The two talkSPORT hosts were in full agreement for once when they debated whether or not the Manchester United star should have stayed at home.Rashford pulled out of international duty with England this week after suffering an injury last week against Fulham in the FA Cup. But not everyone was impressed with his decision to jet off to the United States days later as the Three Lions took on Italy.
However, Agbonlahor and O’Hara have stuck up for the 25-year-old and told him to enjoy his short break ahead of the latter part of the season.
Meanwhile, England boss Gareth Southgate has had his say on the matter, whose side will take on Ukraine on Sunday. The Three Lions coach hinted at a degree of frustration after admitting that could not miss Rashford in his squad – because he is not available enough.“So, in terms of a loss, when you haven’t had him that often then it’s different to being a loss. But without a doubt he was in good form. We were looking forward to seeing him.
