Highly collectable South African art will be auctioned on Wednesday, featuring valuable work by William Kentridge, Marlene Dumas, and George Pemba, among others.

Marlene Dumas' 1974/5 painting, Kindvrou, valued at between R1.8 million and R2.4 million, is also expected to attract a lot of attention.. Work by renowned artists from Zimbabwe, Uganda, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, and the DRC – accounting for 20% of the available lots – will be auctioned alongside South African creations on Wednesday in Cape Town.

Since then, Kentridge's 1988 pencil, chalk, and charcoal work, The Pool, sold for $566,700 in 2019. More recently, the artist's depiction of two typewriters sold for $935,000 ,Kentridge's charcoal drawing heading to auction on Wednesday is valued between R2.8 million and R3.5 million.
