Bath Street has certainly changed a fair bit over the years!

It was the fire that marked the end for one of the city centre's foremost ballrooms and its aftermath was all captured on film.

Around 50 firefighters battled for more than an hour trying to get the fire under control, but were unable to save the stricken venue, which at the time was also home to Joanna's disco. It was reported that four staff had been forced to flee the two-storey structure as the flames quickly spread and smoke billowed from windows. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

For generations of Glaswegians, the ballroom had been the place to let your hair down and get your body moving to the latest dancing trends. The venue, which was originally called the Warren Academy of Dancing, was opened by John and Annie Warren in 1905 and was the first ballroom in the country to welcome dancers six nights a week.
