A rare comet is on track to make its closest approach to Earth this weekend, and it won’t return for another 80,000 years. Named C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, the comet was discovered in January 2023 by researchers in China and Africa . It was first visible from Texas for a short window of time from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2.
