The autographs are estimated to sell for up to £6,000
Four autographs of The Beatles are being sold at an auction in Northamptonshire this October. In their first ever vinyl and popular culture sale, the Wellingborough-based Graham Budd Auctions are selling the Beatlemania autographs on October 18.
Obtained on their July 1963 run of six nights at the Odeon in Weston-super-Mare, the autographs are estimated to sell for between £4,000 to £6,000. The vendor’s sister obtained the autographs on July 23 1963 when she worked at the Odeon cinema during the residency. John Garrett, vintage vinyl specialist for Graham Budd Auctions, said: "This lot is an incredible piece for any Beatles fan or collector of music ephemera. The autographs are clear, strong and legible and come with a letter of authentication, having been with the vendor since 1963.
“Getting these autographs in-person during Beatlemania is a real rarity from a great era. At the time these autographs were obtained, The Beatles still hadn’t exploded in the way they would by the time they set foot in America in '64."Other lots available at the auction include the personal effects of the legendary Screaming Lord Sutch, like his famous leopard print jacket, Rock’s first superstar drummer and Ginger Baker’s drumstick.
Buyers will also have the opportunity to bid on what might be the world’s most expensive can of baked beans, signed by soft rock legend Chris De Burgh, and four signed albums by David Bowie, including the iconic 'Hunky Dory'. Vinyl and pop culture artefacts are experiencing a boom in value with the first half of 2023 seeing a 12 per cent increase with over 2.7 million LP records sold.
