took the field as a starter against Akron who’s still playing the same position he was playing four months later. What we don’t know is what, how things are going to play out with Luke Montgomery, Tegra Shambola and Austin Cerebell at the two guard spots. But Ryan Day did say Luke Montgomery has been strictly at left guard. Tegra Shambola has been strictly at right guard while Austin Cerebell has been like the swing guy and they might rotate.
two snaps or two series at left guard with Montgomery and they’re going to rotate or Syravail is going to play right guard and they’re going to rotate with Shabola every third series or Shabola is going to play two out of every three. I don’t know. Like whatever the math is, I actually don’t think that’s what’s going to happen.
He’s played at Wisconsin and his 300 snaps this year. He gave up eight pressures and just one snap one sack. He still has three years of eligibility left. That was the right tackle. Did Ohio State find its right tackle on Wednesday afternoon for 2025?They certainly found a good option for it. Anytime you can find a guy who has had some experience playing in the big 10, especially as a starter of the last four games, the stats are pretty impressive. mean, only one sack allowed. I don’t know.
And you can go out and sign them as a free agent. And that’s what they did. Right. So instead of getting a version of Daniel’s where he’s, he’s a raw freshmen coming in, you’re getting, you know, two years worth of a, big 10 experience coming in to, help you out. So that’s just, I think that’s the right way, right way to approach a transfer portal. I’ve always thought that was the best way to do it.
You know, this would feel a lot more like a bandaid and just a lot more like a stopgap had, you know, he had it just been, you’re getting a fifth year guy. He’s trying to use Ohio state to, to boost himself for the NFL. Ohio state’s trying to use them to fill the right tackle position. And here we go. It’s this might be a multi-year solution for Ohio state, which I think is notable to bring up.So I’ll it’s not going be done in the transfer portal.
The last time those two guys went up head to head to against each other, Andrew and Stefan, both of them are from Texas. It was in the Texas State playoffs and it also at the Elite 11 and K Club had won that. So he’s been meeting Quinn Ewers before. Pretty interesting. Number six, Penn State’s Drew Aller is hosting SMU’s Kevin Jennings. That should be an interesting matchup as well. Number seven, Riley Leonard.
and we don’t cover Georgia, so we don’t have to live in that world right now. Madsen was clearly number 12 for me, Stephane, because he’s the only one on this list who doesn’t have to play at a seven or higher probably for his team to win, simply because he’s not the only quarterback that isn’t the best player on his offense, but because of what Gentie is, he’s such an outlier.
He necessarily does a lot. And I think when it goes bad, it goes really bad. Like he was miserable against Mississippi against Ole Miss. Like he was terrible in that game. He was not good against Texas. He threw three picks, zero touchdowns, and they just so happened to win the game 30 to 15 because George’s defense just absolutely destroyed Texas’s offense. Like the Alabama game.
I think he is equal to those two already. And since he’s younger with room to grow, I wanna partition him being 10 and Beck and Madsen being 11 and 12. Now, this is majority rules. So if you two don’t agree with me, then we move on.I think what I struggle with is. We’re not talking about the 2025 playoff. We’re talking about 2024.Right now, no, I mean, he doesn’t. He had one SEC game where he had 300 passing yards. I think it was against Kentucky. Like I’d becks.
Okay, here’s what I want to do next. Who is five through eight for you, Andrew? Just give me all four of the guys.Five through eight. I’m just gonna give them in order because this is how I’m gonna read them off. Leonard, Ewers, Levitt and Klebnik.So you’re the highest on Howard, Stefan, and I’m the lowest on Howard. And I am very much open to being talked up because he’s eighth. And I think that he is eighth because of the Michigan game. I think I have overcorrected here.
Do you think what he does is good enough to beat the other realistic championship contenders he might have to go through to win a national title?On his own? No. Like if you were to say, Riley, we need you here. Go win the game. No. I also, yeah, I’ve also said that about a few other quarterbacks. Will Howard is one of them. So yeah, it’s an interesting, yeah.Okay, that’s why he’s. No, for sure. But, but, but for sure.
But he’s also exactly what Notre Dame’s offense wants to be. Like I think that they were out to get that type of quarterback. I don’t think they want to throw it a billion times. So it’s like, okay, well, he’s really good at that. And Howard, the thing that I was having a hard time was like, if we’re evaluating quarterbacks in a vacuum, which is what we have to do here, it’s what would Quinn Ubers look like at Ohio State? Like if Ryan Wingo.
would scheme up enough stuff to make some things shake. Curtis Rourke never came up. Meanwhile, because we come from Ohio State, of course we’re having conversations about whether or not we think Will Howard is good enough and whether or not what we saw pre-Michigan game is more of what we’ll see versus what we saw in the Michigan game, while Quinn Ubers has played in a playoff game before.Yeah, but some of that is relative to what you have around you.
It’s just, I just think it’s the same season to me at this point. Because no, Curtis Scroart isn’t the reason things went haywire against Ohio State, but he also didn’t help his help, right? He didn’t do anything to keep it from happening.I have my head of, Leonard’s locked in at seven. Clemson has not had an elite receiver since T. Higgins left. He’s not playing with the talent that Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence and even DJ Uyengleye early in his career had. He doesn’t have any of that. And that’s what he did. Playing for a man who has allowed his program, his championship level program to fall behind the eight ball because he won’t get with the program.I’m not going to say they’re going to beat Texas.
