Jung hit two home runs to account for most of the Rangers’ offense in their 8-5 Game 3 ALCS loss to the Astros
Jung, the rookie third baseman, hit two home runs to account for most of the Rangers’ offense in their 8-5 Game 3 ALCS loss to the Astros.
Javier, a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher with a career 2.08 ERA in the playoffs, just made that task a bit trickier. In 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball, Javier attacked a Rangers weakness: high fastballs. Javier threw 54 fastballs against the Rangers — a significant number of which were up in or above the strike zone — and elicited seven swings and misses. Of the 14 fastballs that the Rangers hit into play off of Javier, just one fell in for a base hit.
The Rangers scored their fifth run off of Bryan Abreu in the eighth inning; Marcus Semien worked a leadoff walk, took second on an Evan Carter groundout and scored on an Adolis García single to make it 8-5. García was the only Texas batter not named Lowe or Jung to record a hit on Wednesday.
