“He’s one guy that seeing first-hand and watching him work has been [different from what was expected],” manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday morning. “He’s a different animal now.” This is a definite jump. His fastball is not necessarily his calling card, but it’s still the pitch he uses most often. He sets up his assortment of off-speed and breaking balls with it. Create more velocity differential and the secondary stuff plays better.
