Rather than shuffle a bunch of spots on the roster, the Rangers used their three open spots to protect pitchers. The Rangers also returned right-hander Carson Coleman, a Rule 5 pick last year, to the New York Yankees. Coleman missed the entire season recovering from an elbow surgery revision and is not expected to pitch before late 2025. The moves leave the Rangers with 39 players on the 40-man roster.
Santos, 22, and Teodo, 23, both signed for minimal $10,000 bonuses out of the Dominican Republic in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Both throw in the upper 90-mph range regularly. Both are expected to be in contention for spots on the 2025 pitching staff, though probably not to start the season. Both pitchers appeared in the All-Star Futures Game in Arlington in July.
