Rancho Palos Verdes will start getting their gas service back this week as SoCalGas begins upgrading its infrastructure. Homes in the Seaview neighborhood will be checked first.: Significant land movement in Rancho Palos Verdes forced the company to shut down gas lines last year.

SoCalGas and the city have been monitoring the situation. SoCalGas, in a, said that there has been “no measurable land movement in Seaview and Portuguese Bend Beach Club since February." And in the City of Rolling Hills, the movement rates have been at or less than .1 inch per week.: This is the first round of available gas restoration for the Rancho Palos Verdes. Restoration will begin on Tuesday, and the first homes to be checked in Seaview will be on Dauntless, Exultant and Admirable Drives. After that homes on Palos Verdes Drive South will be evaluated. Work in Seaview is expected to be finished by the end of June. Design and implementation plans for homes in the Portuguese Bend Beach Club and the City of Rolling Hills are being developed next. The Portuguese Bend community is still experiencing significant land movement, “making it unsafe for SoCalGas to reconnect service at this time,” according to the company.: In order for your home to be worked on it first has to be deemed safe and secure, and a homeowner has to approve the servicing. SoCalGas also wants homeowners to know the following about the process:SoCalGas must have access to your meter and inside your residence to check the safety of your natural gas appliances.
