The wide receiver, out since Sept. 16 with a sprained ankle, is still uncertain to play in Sunday’s home against the Las Vegas Raiders.
LOS ANGELES — Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who has been out since Sept. 16 with an ankle injury, participated in individual drills during Wednesday’s practice, before moving off to the side of the field to do a workout with vice president of sports medicine Reggie Scott.with quarterback Matthew Stafford throwing to him. He went in motion prior to the snap and was able to make cuts back to the ball. Kupp was listed as a limited participant in practice.
“There’s a possibility that he’ll play, but we’ll see how today goes,” McVay said. “He’s trending in the right direction, but we’ll see exactly what that means as the week progresses.” The receiver, who caught 18 of 27 targets for 147 yards and a touchdown in the first six quarters of the season before suffering his injury, had a workout Monday with Scott that McVay deemed as important for determining Kupp’s status for the rest of the week.
This is the third straight season since he won NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2021 that Kupp has seen his season affected by injury. His 2022 campaign was cut short by a high ankle sprain that required surgery. Just as he was getting back on the field from that procedure, he pulled his hamstring during the 2023 training camp. He missed the first four games of the season, and never appeared to fully find his footing.
