The Los Angeles Rams have a tough decision to make in Week 18 as they seek to secure the best possible playoff positioning.
The Los Angeles Rams have already clinched the NFC West division with one week of football remaining, but they still have a lot to play for. A win against the Seattle Seahawks in the season finale would likely see them face the Washington Commanders in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. A loss means a road trip to face either the Detroit Lions or Minnesota Vikings, a much tougher challenge.
While the Commanders have been impressive this year, hosting them in the opening round would be the best-case scenario for the Rams. Los Angeles has struggled to score 20 points in its last three games, largely due to Stafford, who hasn't surpassed 200 passing yards since December 8th. The 36-year-old hasn't been performing well, and Sean McVay might prefer to have his veteran quarterback playing at his best. However, McVay seems to prioritize health and rest over momentum, opting for Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 18. It could be a good decision in the long run, but passing up the chance to face a less experienced Commanders team might backfire.
