San Antonio super bantamweight boxer Ramon Cardenas earns hard-fought victory by unanimous decision at The Boeing Center at Tech Port.

His knockout streak is over, but Ramon Cardenas did well to survive Saturday night. The San Antonio super bantamweight contender overcame a seventh-round knockdown and hung on to defeat Bryan Acosta of Mexico by unanimous decision in a non-title fight at The Boeing Center at Tech Port , extending his winning streak to 14 straight matches. Cardenas won by scores of 95-94, 95-94 and 97-92. He got off to a fast start, winning the first six rounds on two of the three judges’ scorecards.

2 in the world by the WBA, was not the same the rest of the fight. He lost the final four rounds on two of the scorecards but won the last three rounds comfortably on the third. Acosta, 26, displayed a strong chin, taking powerful right and left hands from Cardenas, who was coming off spectacular one-punch knockouts in his previous two fights on ProBox TV. But Cardenas couldn’t make it five straight KOs and was, indeed, fortunate to eke out a win in front of a packed hometown crowd.
