A few minutes after arriving at the venue, Ramaphosa had a brief chat with ANC Women’s League president Bathabile Dlamini before standing up and leaving. ANC provincial chairperson Stan Mathabatha, who had accompanied him, also left.

She said many of the women had not been tested for Covid-19 and there was a breach on contact and tracing: She told the packed centre that they were forced to cancel as they didn’t want to put Ramaphosa’s health at risk.
