After being formally established and assuming its status as a schedule 3 public entity on 1 April 2023, the BMA will officially launch.With the BMA in place, South Africa has an integrated platform for border management and a single command and control to help the country achieve secure borders, secure trade, and safe travel.

“President Cyril Ramaphosa will then continue to officially declare the BMA open at the Musina Show Grounds and present a sword and authority to the BMA Commissioner, who will henceforth be in charge of the Republic’s third law enforcement agency, to him,” said the Presidency.
