Ramaphosa bids farewell to Deputy President David Mabuza
Ramaphosa paid a special tribute to Mabuza at the end of his replying speech, which gave a hint that he had accepted Mabuza’s intention to step down.
Ramaphosa is expected to announce his Cabinet reshuffle after the budget speech next week, which will also include the appointment of his deputy and the new minister of electricity. “Some choose to belittle and deride what has been achieved over the last five years in the midst of extremely difficult conditions because it does not serve their political interests to recognise the progress that is plainly clear,” added Ramaphosa.
He stated: “We faced up to the worst global pandemic in a century and marshalled an unprecedented response to save lives and protect livelihoods.
