Hundreds of people gathered Sunday to seek justice for Ralph Yarl, a black Missouri boy who was shot in the head after he rang the wrong doorbell while trying to pick up his twin brothers.

The homeowner who shot Yarl was taken into police custody and released 24 hours later.Democratic Missouri state Rep. Marlene Kerry called on full transparency from Kansas City police.

“Ultimately, this tragic incident underscores why ‘shoot first, ask questions later’ policies like so-called ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws do far more harm than good,” she said. “There is a thorough investigation underway now.
